Small Scholars, Big Magic: Utah’s Online School Library for Elementary

Help young learners turn curiosity into discovery! In this session, we’ll explore how Utah’s Online Library can transform elementary research from a checklist into a magical adventure in inquiry. Learn how to guide students through age-appropriate databases, curated multimedia, and leveled reading tools that build both confidence and comprehension. Participants will practice connecting common research requests from teachers with student-friendly resources from databases in Utah’s Online Library.

Val O'Bryan-UEN Trainer

Val has a passion for educational technology and works for the Utah Education Network as a senior trainer. At UEN, she provides training on ed tech tools and pedagogy to teachers all over the state of Utah. She earned a doctorate in education in 2022 from Kansas State University and her MA in English came from Northern Arizona University. She was previously a high school and college English teacher in the Washington County School District. She has been presenting at UCET since 2018.
